How about a non-profit hospital in Detroit, one of the country’s economically hardest-hit cities? How do you survive, let alone grow business and revenue, all while keeping your employees happy?
I began my blog, “Doc in the D,” in 2010 when I became the President and CEO of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. My goal is to answers all of those questions and more, and to give readers an inside look at what it’s like on our Detroit campus.
Having worked at Henry Ford Hospital for about 35 years, I have a unique perspective on health care in Detroit, and countless stories and videos to share.
I am the first physician to lead the hospital in more than 60 years, and oversee the entire clinical and financial operations of the 877-bed hospital, the medical, educational and research flagship of Henry Ford Health System. I also serve in the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Henry Ford Health System.
As a pulmonary disease and internal medicine specialist, I continue to see patients, lecture, and author journal articles, abstracts and book chapters too.
I hope you enjoy reading “Doc in the D.”
